College In The US During COVID-19

This year has for many been one of the most challenging due to the spread of coronavirus and you may be worried that you will not be able to go to College in the US. You are not alone. Since the outbreak of the virus, our team at Recruiters Eye have received many questions from athletes regarding how and if COVID-19 will have an impact on their college experience in the US.

We want to start by reassuring that we take our commitment to our athletes very seriously and their health and safety abroad is most important.

Although the virus has brought some challenges, we want to encourage our athletes to keep their eyes on the prize and not let COVID-19 get in the way of their academic and athletic goals.

Our top priority is to provide our athletes with the best support in their journey to College in the US and therefore we have closely followed the ongoing development of COVID-19 as well as the latest policies and guidelines provided by authorities.

In the following, we are pleased to provide an overview of the most central questions we have received in regards to COVID-19 as well as answers to these questions, in order to take away some of your worries.

Can I still go to College in the US despite COVID-19?

The answer is yes. Despite COVID-19 it is still possible and we expect to send a great number of athletes to college in the US

How might COVID-19 affect my College experience in the US?

As you probably already know, some universities have decided to close campuses. However, this does not mean the end of your journey to college. We are in close dialogue with our partner universities and together we are working hard to keep things going and create new ways to continue lessons and training.

It is of course difficult to predict what restrictions and changes might occur in the future due to the uncertainty of the situation. Even if the university expects to have classes at campus, sudden changes might occur. With regard to this it is important to remember that universities are more than willing to make adjustments to fit these sudden changes.

Nevertheless, it is crucial to keep in mind that universities are subject to instructions of local authorities and therefore restrictions and recommendations will differ all from state to the respective university. That being said, our team at Recruiters Eye is making sure to stay updated about the newest restrictions and recommendations by authorities and we are ready to guide and support you.

What are some of the biggest challenges and how will Recruiter’s Eye support me?

As previously mentioned, the virus has resulted in challenges. Nonetheless, our team has proactively responded to these challenges by finding great alternatives and even opportunities to ensure that you can get an incredible college experience in the US. In the following section, we are pleased to share an overview of these challenges as well as the alternatives and opportunities.

The SAT (a widely used college admissions test in the US) is not required under the current circumstances.
  • In that way, our athletes may have a greater chance of getting a scholarship since they are not required to take the SAT.
TOEFL (A widely used English test) is not required under the current circumstances.
  • Instead our athletes are required to take the Duolingo test, which is both more affordable and has a lower difficulty level.
Physical attendance is a requirement to receive an athletic scholarship in the United States.
  • However, universities are willing to offer our athletes alternative solutions, such as academic scholarships. That being said, these alternative solutions may not become necessary since many universities in the US have continued lessons and training at campus during COVID-19.
The NCAA has extended their season.
  •   As a result of this, our athletes now have the opportunity to earn both a bachelor and Master degree during their time in the US. You can read more about the extended season here.
Closed borders and embassy’s. During quarantine, borders and embassies have been closed in many countries.
  • This can be a great time to put together all the remaining preparation for your departure and spend time on research that might be useful.
Why move forward with plans to go to College in the US during COVID-19?
  • Our team and partner universities are ready to guide and support you through the process
  • Our partner universities are more than willing to make adjustments to ensure that you can still pursue your athletic and academic dreams

Although your health and safety abroad is most important, prioritizing your athletic and academic dreams are important too.
